This year's annual fundraising event, Basics for Babies, has been our school's most successful year ever. The grade seven students of Division 1 sold chipmint patties, Lifesavers and double pop-suckers. All the profits went towards the cause. They also held a raffle open to the whole school. The prizes were a gingerbread house and an entertainmant gift package. The gingerbread house, donated by generous Dr. Elizabeth Findley, was won by student, Valerie Lu. The grand prize entertainment gift package, which contained a CD, a video, games, and more was won by Dillon McNeill. To encourage the kids to help and for them to understand the importance of the cause, Mr. Smith challenged the school. He promised to dye his hair pink and shave off his beard and moustache if the students were able to raise a total of $1000 or more. The students accepted instantly. After about two weeks of selling, donating and hard work, the students of Norquay reached their goal! The final result was about $1119! The entire staff of Norquay is very proud of their students. We hope that all the hard work that we all did will help more babies to have a very happy holidays this year! |
