Division 7 had a great time learning about African dance and culture. Maobong Oku was our African dance instructor and also an Artist-in-Residence for the school board. We had to wear a sorang and a headband. We learned how to do the akpassa dance (the dance of the fish people) and how to sing songs. One song was called May wan Sam Ude which is a children folk song and the other was called Adara o --- which means rejoice. In addition, we would like to inspire people to learn African dance, because it is really fun and active. |
