Reflections on the Violin ConcertLast Wednesday, a famous violinist named Jack Glatzer came to our school to play for us and to tell us the history of violins. I learned that all music was used to describe something , such as a beautiful architecture or apainting for instance. Mr. Glatzer showed us pictures of what the playing of his violin meant, like buildings from Turkey, Iran and so on. He always told us a little story about the piece he was going to play next. He told us to listen for certain imitations of other instruments and to tap our laps to the beat. Recently, we have been playing ukulele in music, so it is kind of alike. It was fun meeting Mr. Glatzer, and I look forward to meeting him again. Douglas He Division 9 |

On Wednesday, April 15, Mr. Jack Glatzer performed two concerts for students at Norquay. For the primary classes he described the fantastical life of the great violinist, Paganinni. At the intermediate concert, he took them on a musical tour from Spain to India. As you can tell by the expressions on the the faces of the four girls in the photo above, he was a hit! |
