On Friday, February 14, Division 1 and Division 8 went on a field trip to Granville Island. There was a festival on Granville Island to sponsor Vancouver's bid for the 2010 Olympic Games. Ms. Perry's class and Mrs. Hughes's class created an art project for the festival. Each student was to illustrate their hopes and dreams for the 2010. Each student was given a piece of plexi-glass and some transparent paint. They had to apply their image of their hope and dream onto the plexi-glass. Once we got to the festival our goal was to hang our beautiful artwork on a giant mobile, showing everyone's hopes and dreams. Each child handed their artwork to a volunteer who was then going to hang it on the giant mobile. After enjoying the festivities around the mobile, the classes explored the rest of Granville Island's beauty. We had lunch and left feeling satisfied that we had contributed something to the city of Vancouver. Sharan Pawa |
