| Mr. Smith is a teacher and a
major coach here at Norquay. He has done a lot to help out with the School.
Mr. Smith has been coaching the Senior and Junior Boys soccer, Senior Boys volleyball and he will teach the Senior Boys Basketball starting in the next few weeks. Mr. Smith teaches sports for the love of the game. He also enjoys teaching kids sports and he enjoys the kids. He also believes it is the best activity in the world and that everyone should be physically fit. Mr. Smith has coached with other coaches here at Norquay and in other places. Some of them are: Mr. Beriault (Bear-e-oh) for volleyball. Mr. Parker, Ms. Hempton and Ms. Perry for running club, (but he actually just helped out). Mr. Smith says he really hasn't had problems with kids but there have been a few minor problems such as talking back, being late for practices or missing games. Mr. Smith's strategy for coaching is teaching kids discipline. He says that it carries over from sports into the kids' everyday life. He is strict but fair. All of his students must have good sportsmanship and he hopes they have fun while playing. He believes that if you're not having fun then there's no point in playing. Mr. Smith says his favorite sports to coach are Basketball, Flag Football and Hockey. Even though our school doesn't have a Hockey team, he believes it would be great to teach a league. Mr. Smith has not had any strange, weird, or odd experiences while coaching any of his teams. By this we mean he hasn't had any students transforming into anything. Although he has seen some weird movements of the ball, for example, seeing the volleyball slide along the top of the net. At least its not as weird as transformations!! Some important stats about Mr. Smith are... -He loves to coach. It is very important to him -he has been coaching for 10 years (but not only at Norquay) -coached Elementary for 6 years -coached high school a couple of years -helped and coached for community teams -taught both adults and kids -is NCCP certified for 6 different sports |
