Mrs. Mc Ilwaine is a coach of gymnastics and different kind of
dances at John Norquay School.
Mrs. Mc Ilwaine has been teaching at Norquay since 1972. She has also taught
other sports: Track & Field, Cross Country, Softball, and Volley Ball.
She has coached sports every since she came to Norquay. She really likes
to coach running sports because she likes to see people moving around and
getting tired. "It's good for them", she says. All sports need
flexibility and strength, and gymnastics is good for that.
She has been in the Olympic swimming competition
twice! When she was fourteen years old, she went to Rome, Italy, to compete
in the 100m freestyle. When she was eighteen years old, she went to Tokyo,
Japan, to compete in the 100m butterfly. She came in eighth in both Olympic
meets. She broke a world record twice!
Mrs. Mc Ilwaine is a great coach in our school! |
