The Girl

by Leon Yuen, Grade 6, Div. 4

The Girl was the nicest
A perfect twenty-one.
Her smile was a wonder
Much better than the sun.
Her looks stole my life
My heart and attention,
She is the best
I always will mention.

The Girl was quickest
To break a boy's heart,
You see her right there
Then she leaves with a start.
She's worse than she sounds
She might even fight,
But I think she's good
For she doesn't bite.

The Girl is the greatest
She'll be in my mind,
From now to forever
We'll eternally bind.
I hope for the greatest
As destiny goes,
And stay very patient
When life starts to flow.

I Like . . . But . . .

by Jennifer Yao, Grade 6, Div. 6

I like it when the trees in front of the house explode with blossoms,
But I don't like it when I get spider webs on my face when
I walk through the trees.
I like it when it's sunset and the rocks blaze in orange and red,
But I don't like it when it's night and the rocks
turn hard and lifeless.
I like it when I succeed in something heartstomping,
But I don't like it when my body gets all chilly when
I'm too nervous.
I like it when school starts and I meet new people and teachers,
But I don't like it when I leave the empty school
far away in June.

Wishes

by Annie Liang, Grade 6, Div. 6

I wish I was more noticed and not ignored,
But that's other people's choice and not mine.

I wish I could have any toy I want,
But I know money is hard to find.

I wish everyone treated everyone else nicely,
But sometimes, it's hard to control yourself.

I wish I could be a better runner,
But it's hard to be better than everyone else.

I wish for my grandpa's backbone to heal,
But just seeing him suffer makes me feel terrible.

I wish someone would stop helpless people experience pain,
But that may be impossible.

I wish all my wishes come true,
But I doubt they will.
