Staring at the Fire
by Sharon Pawa, Grade 5, Div. 7
Staring at the fire I noticed that it was cutting
the coldness of darkness,
Suddenly I look up and there is a wet column
of light,
The sun was cooking in the side of my mouth and
drying my tongue
The fire was blistering red in the sunlight,
I felt like I was feeding the fire with my soul,
I was learning about the fire but I felt like
I was dying,
My mind was plain but focussed,
I felt like I was drifting on a virtual cloud
Suddenly I felt like something had drifted into
me from outside,
My mind was filled with faint pearl light,
A sulfurous smell filled my body,
I was screaming with fear but there was no sound,
I felt my soul thrashing alone in the darkness,
My body instantly tore with pain,
Something left me, gutted me, and left me with
nothing,
Now my soul had rest forever.

The Fight of Water and Fire In Picture
by Jennifer Yao, Grade 5, Div. 6
A massive roar,
to kill.
The fire cuts the night's coolness,
the dark.
A picture,
the beauty of scenery
Wind tore at the fire,
the water
so calm.
And in the north woods,
the Secret,
to destroy the mirror.
It
was too late.
